2OZ SILVER PANAMA-PACIFIC EXPOSITION SAN FRANCISCO TRIBUTE MEDAL
Description
Beautiful Tributary Design:
The obverse depicts an image of the Roman goddess Minerva wearing a crested Corinthian style helmet. As the goddess of wisdom, commerce, inspiration and strategy, Minerva is an appropriate allegory for the technological triumph of the Panama Canal. “IN GOD WE TRUST” appears in the field above the goddess’ head, with the honorary Roman numeral date “MCMXV” (1915) on a curved banner below.
Featured on the reverse is Minerva’s steadfast owl companion perched in the pinecone-laden branches of a Ponderosa Pine tree.
