This coin is the first issue of St. Helena’s new Napoleon Angel series.

Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most prominent and controversial leaders in French history. He led several successful war campaigns and became Emperor of the French. He died in exile on the island of St. Helena.

The reverse of this coin bears the image of an angel watching over Napoleon’s gravestone. Metal weight, purity, and the mintmark of the East India Company Mint are also on this side of the coin.

The obverse shows an image of Raphael Maklouf’s design of Queen Elizabeth II.
